Youth Recreation

Columbia Soccer Association's Youth Recreation League is open to players in divisions U4 - U18. To determine if your player is eligible, please check the Birth Matrix. If you are U19 or older, we offer an Adult League.

The main focus of the recreation league is player development, skill building, and having fun! We do not track scores from week to week, we do not award medals, and each player gets to play at least half a game. For those players and coaches that want to build teams and play competitively, we encourage you to try-out for one of our club teams. For more information on our club program, contact the VP of Travel

Your child must be 3 years old at the time of registration. Teams are randomly selected based on player criteria to ensure balanced fair play. Everyone likes to win, but in the recreation league, the focus is on giving everyone equal play time and having teams that are balanced to ensure play is enjoyable for all players.

Please be aware that odd divisions are usually combined with even divisions. For example, players that register for a U5, U7, U9, U11, or U13 division will actually play in a U6, U8, U10, U12, or U14. The older divisions may be combined into coed teams and have a larger age range. For example, U15, U16, and U17 may be combined into the U18 division. This is all dependent upon registration numbers, division enrollments and the amount of volunteer coaches available.

2019 Fall Calendar

To be eligible to register, the player must be born on or before September 1st, 2016.

No special requests will be taken after June 30th. No registrations will be taken after the late registration deadline on July 20th. The early bird and sibling discounts will be applied at check out.

Please consider volunteering when registering your players. For divisions U4-U6, we have Team Volunteers/Parents instead of coaches. Typically these age groups do not practice during the week. CSA Mentors administer skills training and games on Saturdays.

For the U8 and older divisions, we need coaches. Coaches set the days and times they practice. Coaches and volunteers typically contact parents and players the week after Coach and Volunteer Saturday. We do not have practice times, game times, or any other information available until after it has been given to the coaches.

Special Requests:
You must submit your request using the Contact Form on the main page.

Special requests for a specific coach, player, or team are not guaranteed. Hardships will be taken into consideration regarding travel arrangements for games and practices. Teams are generated each season using software that evenly sorts players based on age and other criteria in order to make games balanced and fair. Occasionally, rec teams may need to be reorganized to make play more even. Coaches decide practice days and times. Practice locations are set by the Field Manager.

Games are only canceled in cases of severe weather or lighting. We play in the heat, cold, and rain. When 2 or more games are canceled due to weather or other events, we will attempt to make up some of the missed games, but due to field and referee availability, some games may not be made up.

Game Location
Begninning fall of 2019, all recreational games will take place at Ridley Sports Complex. There may be times we still utilize Cook Soccer park. If locations are changed due to weather, scheduling, or other circumstances, we will post to Facebook, the website, and email.

When will I know about games, practices, uniforms, and other information?
Coaches (U8 and above) and Volunteers (U6 and younger) meet to receive their rosters, uniforms, practice locations, and other information on Coaches/Volunteer Saturday. We encourage coaches and volunteers to contact parents as soon as possible after the volunteer/coach meeting.

What equipment will my child need?
Your child will be provided a game day uniform which includes a jersey, shorts, and a pair of socks. The uniform is theirs; they will not have to turn it back in. You will need to purchase shin guards, shoes (soccer cleats are best), and a soccer ball. Shin guards and shoes are required for both practices and games. The soccer ball size depends on the age division in which your child plays (Tiny Toes – U6 uses a size 3 soccer ball, U7 – U12 uses a size 4 soccer ball, U13 – U18 uses a size 5 soccer ball.
